Bravely Second is headed to Nintendo 3DS, but fans of the series will have another title to look forward to with Bravely Archive: D’s Report, which is headed to smartphones next month.

002

Bravely Archive is the series’ first game for smartphones, and it features the world of the Bravely series in a turn-based RPG that focuses on simple flicking mechanisms. Similar to the games on 3DS, it features all kinds of jobs with various abilities that you can mix and match to create your own unique parties and play-style.

The game also features four characters that were from the browser game, Bravely Default: Praying Brage.

005 006

The Vestal of Wind Edea Lee Oblige and the Vestal of Water Kyuri Oblige.

007 008

The Vestal of Fire Iglia Ningva Oblige and the Vestal of Earth Lilia Rosso Oblige.

009 As far as the story goes, it takes place several hundred years after the events of the Bravely series, in an alternate “what if” world. The Anastasis Library is located in the center of Luxendarc, and is said to be a place that contains all knowledge.

You, the player, will take on the role of a new librarian, and will need to go around the world to collect knowledge by gathering “memories” that have been sealed in crystals.

As previously mentioned, the game is a simple RPG with turn-based commands. You’ll need to put your party together and use flick-based commands to defeat enemies. There’s Black Magic, White Magic, Sword Magic, and more from the Bravely Series.

What gives the game a unique touch is the variety of different effects the attacks will have, such as ones that make enemies float up, and combos that you can follow up with against monsters that are floating in the air.

013

Similar to the main Bravely games, there are various jobs with different roles, such as damage dealers, supporters, healers, and so on. There are over 30 jobs in total, and here’s a look at some of them:

014

Knight, White Mage, Black Mage, Black Mage, Templar, and Dark Knight.

015

Monk, Valkyrie (called Dragoon here), Samurai, Ninja, and Performer.

016

As you explore Luxendarc in the alternate future world, you’ll also encounter all kinds of heroes from the other Bravely games throughout your journey as well.

Bravely Archive: D’s Report will release in Japan sometime in January 2015. It will be free-to-play with micro-transactions.
