Gust have shared some more of the latest details on New Atalier Rorona, an upcoming 3DS remake of Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland with chibi-style characters, in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine.

The overall appearance aside, one of the bigger changes in New Atelier Rorona is the battle system. It starts out with a symbol encounter system that seamlessly transfers into a grid-based battle area after touching a monster. Even though the characters do look cutesy, one of the screenshots shows Sterk looking like a little badass, using a skill to take out a monster.

As previously reported, you’ll unlock an “Atelier Astrid” mode after meeting certain conditions, where you’ll get to check out how Astrid and Sterk lived back earlier on. This mode seems like there’s more than you’d expect as well.

Some of the other screenshots show more battles, where the party consists of Astrid and Sterk as a duo. The story for this part will reveal the events that led to Astrid taking Rorona on as her pupil. Similar to the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions of the game, there’s more to do upon clearing the story, where Meruru and Totori will swing by for a visit, and the three alchemists will have a journey to share.

In addition to being able to change the difficulty for you Atelier veterans out there, the game will have 11 party member characters, and costumes that are said to bring out a whole other look with characters in their chibi-style forms.

New Atelier Rorona is slated for release in Japan on March 26, 2015 for Nintendo 3DS.
