In the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. team colour is represented by an outline around your characters. The same will be true of the Wii U version, director Masahiro Sakurai said over Twitter today.

In the above screenshot of the Wii U version, the outlines look a little faint, but the trick is that they’ve been designed so that they’ll remain consistent as the camera zooms out, so you’ll be able to keep track of your characters even when they appear smaller.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be released sometime this holiday.
