Shiro Games has announced Evoland 2: A Slight Case of Spacetime Continuum Disorder, which is a “spiritual successor” to its first effort to provide an action adventure through the history of RPGs, specifically the genre’s evolution from the ‘80s to modern day.
As with Evoland, this sequel will see its graphics style change from top-down big pixels to isometric 3D spaces as you move through its time travelling storyline. However, unlike Evoland, it will give you much more to do and will actually shift between genres, including turn-based tactical combat, to platformer and shoot’em up.
“It is also a much bigger game and a classic RPG at heart, with a complex scenario based on time travel, dozens of characters with their own backgrounds and ambitions and vastly different gameplay styles that are linked to the story and the player’s actions,” Shiro Games explained.
Evoland 2 will also contain plenty of humor and (obviously) lots of references to gaming culture across the years.
Keep track of updates regarding the development of Evoland 2 on its website.
