The remake of Hato Moa’s avian dating sim Hatoful Boyfriend remake was due to be released on Steam on August 21st, but it has since been delayed until September 4th.

Publisher Devolver Digital announced the delay earlier this week, stating that co-developer Mediatonic needed to polish the game a little more before it hatches. Devolver also released a new picture to illustrate its statement that features a bird’s egg in its nest cracking as the hatchling inside is about to break out.

Hatoful Boyfriend has you play as the only human accepted into St. PigeoNation’s Institute, which is a high school for talented birds. It’s a dating sim that has you attending class and flirting with the pigeons and your other feathered classmates. Hato Moa has created a new scenario with an “Azami special ending” for this remake.

You can currently pre-purchase Hatoful Boyfriend on Steam at a discounted price of $8.99. The Collector’s Edition is also available for pre-purchase for $13.49, and comes with the game, the soundtrack, an exclusive comic from Hato Moa, exclusive wallpapers of Oko-san, and a St. Pigoenations Schoolbook.
