Final Fantasy Explorers will have a bunch of familiar job classes from the Final Fantasy universe, and while we’ve already seen a glimpse of the game in action, Square Enix recently shared a series of videos showing more of the Knight, Monk, and Black Mage jobs.
The Knight is one of the jobs that can be acquired early in the game, and they can use all kinds of different weapons. They specialize in defensive abilities like “Deflect” and have the role of tank in the party. In parties, they’ll often start out by pulling the monsters, followed by a good beating from the other attackers in the group.
Like the Knight, the Monk job can be acquired early in the game. They’re considered attackers that fight in the frontline of combat. They have abilities to enhance their stats to make up for their lack of defense. In parties, these guys go nicely with the Knights, as they’re the first ones to jump in on the action after the tank pulls in a target.
The Black Mage has an attacker role like Monk, but unlike the brawlers, they fight from a distance using black magic. Their defense is actually a lot lower but having the ability to attack from a distance will be more than enough to make up for it.
Similar to the Monk and other damage-dealer roles, Black Mages will often have to wait for the tank to pull in party play. They also can’t move while casting, so that’ll also be another thing worth keeping in mind.
Final Fantasy Explorers will be released in Japan on December 18, 2014 for Nintendo 3DS.
