Yesterday, Inti Creates shared further details on the story of Azure Striker Gunvolt, along with some more details on the game’s characters. In a separate update, 4Gamer gives us a look at how the story will be told in the game.

When Siliconera previously spoke with Gunvolt director Yoshihisa Tsuda, he mentioned that since the game is a fast-paced side-scrolling action game, you couldn’t spend too much on trying to tell the player a story. For this reason, the game’s story will be told through fragmented messages that automatically appear on the screen.

According to the 4Gamer report, the story will be fully-voiced, and told in what Inti Creates call a “Light Novel 2D Action” style.

As seen in the above image, the story messages will show up in the midst of action. If you’re not too keen on hearing the voiced messages, there’s an option that lets you turn voices off.

Gino, the “life-of-the-party” member of QUILL, is a reliable young man that always cares for his buddy, GV.

The messages you get from the characters won’t always be about what’s currently going on, as they’ll sometimes talk about their feelings and other random things.

The event scenes and everything else are also fully-voiced.

The boss characters also have plenty to say during the big fights. They might even share their thoughts that might make you understand their situation a little, but in the end, they’ll still need to be put down!

Azure Striker Gunvolt is currently in development and will be released this Summer in North America and Japan for the Nintendo 3DS.
