Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson will have a number of new features, like the “Pair Battle” system, where you’ll be pairing up your favorite characters to take on hoards of enemies. Marvelous shares a look at some of the new features with several demonstration videos. (Thanks, Game-Jouhou)

The first video shows off the “Pair Battle” where you put together a tag-team to fight enemies. The partner character will fight on her own, but you’ll also be able to give her orders.

It’s possible to put together tag teams with rivals, as the Senran Kagura characters can be paired with anyone, whether they’re part of the same school or not. When switching places with the partners, you’ll be able to perform actions such as combos and counters.

Above is a look at a special tag-team move that can be done between two characters. The better the pair fights together, the higher damage output the attack will have. Depending on your duo you create, there will be different attack scenes.

Senran Kagura 2 will allow you to switch weapons, too, just for visual effect. While the weapon changing feature is mainly for appearances, you’ll be able to attach special gems to give the weapons powers and elemental attributes.

Some of these include “attack up,” “auto-health recovery,” and “fire invulnerability”.

The above is a look at some pair introduction videos. There will be special intros for certain character match-ups.

Finally, Senran Kagura 2 will be getting new and improved costume destruction features, as this time, you’ll also be able to destroy the clothing of small-fry enemies, as well. Once you defeat an enemy, you’ll be able to “examine” them in the reference library. Clothing will also be destroyed in seamless fashion.

Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson will be released on August 7th, 2014 for Nintendo 3DS.
