The 3rd Super Robot Taisen Z: Time Prison Chapter was released in Japan last week, and the game sold 142,433 copies on PlayStation 3, and another 128,236 copies on PS Vita.

Japanese sales tracker Media Create reports that the PS3 version of the game sold through 75.93% of its shipment. Meanwhile, the Vita version sold through 81.39% of its shipment.

Both versions of the game together sold 270,669 copies in total. This isn’t as high as the sales of 2011’s The 2nd Super Robot Taisen Z: Destruction Chapter on PSP, which sold 307,000 copies in its launch week.

However, sales were very close to those of 2012’s The 2nd Super Robot Taisen Z: Regeneration Chapter, which sold around 265,000 copies at launch. This means that Bandai Namco have managed to successfully retain fans of the franchise despite the platform switch from PSP.

Since past sales of these games have ended up around 1.3 times as high as launch week sales, one can estimate that The 3rd Super Robot Taisen Z will go on to sell around 350,000 copies in the long run.
