Bandai Namco recently introduced us to the newest character of Tales of Zestiria—Edna, who is part of the Heavenly Tribe like Miclio. Famitsu shares more details on Edna, along with some details on the fighting styles of the protagonist Slay and heroine Alicia.
Edna is a young girl from the Heavenly Tribe who possesses the ability to use powerful earth elemental-based “Heaven Echo” Artes. Her pretty outward appearance actually contrasts with her personality, as she doesn’t often show much emotion and has a more mature personality. At the same time, however, she finds pleasure in using her sharp tongue to tease people.
There is an exception, though—while Edna is usually calm, whenever it comes to her older brother, it’s almost as though she loses herself and shows a lot of emotion.
The Tales of series is known for its simple controls that let you pull off a variety of actions through the “Linear Motion Battle System”. While details on Tales of Zestiria’s battle system remain scant, Famitsu gives us a look at the protagonist Slay and the heroine Alicia in action.
Slay carries a ritualistic sword he found at an ancient ruin as his main weapon, and uses it to pull off swift attacks. In addition to learning fast and mobile skills, he’ll also learn a number of attacks with various elemental attributes.
His fighting style will involve hitting enemy weaknesses and powerful special attacks, as a versatile frontline fighter.
Alicia uses a spear that is taller than herself for swift attacks and hitting enemies all around her. Her attacks may leave her open to enemy hits, she’ll be able to coordinate her skills with her movements to keep herself at an advantageous position, while remaining at a safe distance.
Her orthodox skills and skills with dynamic movement will be put to good use with her hit-and-run style of combat.
Tales of Zestiria is currently in development for PlayStation 3.
