With J-Stars Victory Vs.’ release right around the corner, Bandai Namco have been giving us a closer look at each of the game’s 52 characters. Last time we saw some manly fighters in Toriko and Jonathan Joestar. This time, we got a contrast of characters in Ichigo from Bleach, Gintama’s Gintoki, and more.
Tatsumi Oga and Beel from Beelzebub
Oga is one of the more versatile fighters, who excels in offense and defense with the help of his little buddy Beel. Using his Zebul Emblem, he’ll be able to stick opponents with follow-up explosive effects. When he uses his “Super Milk Time” ability, it’ll further increase the damage and hits of its explosions.
You’ll be able to throw Beel for electric attacks, and also for counter attacks where he’ll jump on opponents after blocking their hits.
Tsunayoshi Sawada and Reborn from Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
The Vongola family duo in Sawada and Reborn will be giving opponents everything they can handle in J-Stars Victory Vs. with their rushing attack style. Sawada will be all about offense with attacks that can be launched from long distance.
Sawada’s “X Burner” ability will use up a lot of stamina, but it’ll make up for it with plenty of burning damage. He won’t have too many defensive abilities, and will rely on his heavy combo and damage output for winning fights.
Gintoki Sakata from Gintama
Gintoki will be up this usual shenanigans using various tricky gag manga-style attacks like dashing with his moped and blowing this up with the “Justaway” bombs. He’ll also have finishing moves like his Kamehame… something ability that we’ve seen somewhere else before.
Gintoki is also considered a gamble character, as he’ll be borrowing abilities from certain characters as a joke, but he might occasionally go serious and do what they’re actually supposed to do infull power. If you’re wondering about Gin’s buddy Shinpachi, he’ll appear onscreen as a pair of tsukkomi-shouting glasses, as seen in 0:58 of the video. Dondake!
Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach
Ichigo will excel at fighting on land just as well as he will in mid-air with aerial dash attacks with quite the reach. He’ll be one of the more technical characters with a bunch of different combos and finishers in his repertoire.
By charging up his stamina, he’ll be able to transform into Hollow form, which decreases the amount of stamina used for attacks, making it easier for you to pull off different combos. His most powerful ability is his all-or-nothing “Mugetsu,” which can one-hit-kill just about any character, but Ichigo will also be knocked out once it’s done.
J-Stars Victory Vs. will be released on March 19, 2014 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
