Reborn has a premise that blends cyberpunk with Japanese mythology. The story takes place in Neo-Tokyo where augmented humans live under the governance of Nexus Roku Corporation. Rena Nakano, the cyborg president, almost has complete control of the country. All she needs is the Tear of Heaven, a relic used in ancient times to seal the Tengu Demon Sojobo, to gain immortality. You play as Miyamoto Musashi who leads a group of heroes to stop Rena.
The game is presented as a 3D action RPG and while you can fight your way through levels with focus moves, players can also progress stealthily without killing people. Reborn keeps track of how you play, whether your character acts aggressively or prefers to avoid conflict and NPCS will react accordingly.
Reborn has been in development for nine months and the developer, Elemental-Labs, went to Kickstarter to get the remaining funds to finish the game. If Elemental-Labs raises $200,000 they will release the game for PC, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. Also, Shin Koyamada who worked on The Last Samurai will join the team. Stretch goals include a PC version for Steam, a Vita release with Cross-Play, and a versus multiplayer mode. $40 gets backers a digital copy of the game.
