In case you’ve ever wondered how many foot-soldiers you can send flying into the air if you could perform tag-team combos, you’ll be able find out in Sengoku Basara 4, using its new “Brothers in Arms” system. 4Gamer shares new details on how you’ll be able to pair and level up comrade characters on the battlefield.

The “Brothers in Arms” system is where the player controls one character, while a comrade fights right next to you, as an assistant character. Capcom have not revealed the requirements into getting a character to be your comrade, but you’ll be able to give them orders and level them up.

Mastering this system will be one of the key factors of success in Sengoku Basara 4.

The Comrade Order input is simply done by the press of one button, then selecting a target, which can be followed by both characters simultaneously attacking the same foe.  Your ally won’t simply go attacking blindly either, as they will attack accordingly to the enemy’s condition and state, and using their circumstantial judgment.

By leveling your comrade up, their ability to judge situations will become better, in addition to learning  new ways to attack. You’ll also be able to alternate between your main and comrade characters, so if you’d rather have a much higher leveled buddy on your side, you can simply allow the CPU to take over.

Some of the biggest situational attacks that you can pull off in Sengoku Basara 4 are the tag team “Giga Basara Skills” that can be performed when both your main and comrade characters have full Basara Gauges. Once both parameters are filled, you’ll can start these attacks out by giving an order to your ally.

The Giga Basara Skills are much more powerful than your regular Basara attacks, and also cover a much wider range along with more hits on average.

Each Giga Basara Skill has its own ink washed Japanese “sumi-e” style painting, which varies according to your Brothers in Arms combination.

Sengoku Basara 4 is slated for release in early 2014 for PlayStation 3.
