Everyone knew a Dragon Quest Monsters 2 remake coming, especially after Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D sold strong and a trademark was uncovered. Now, it’s official.

A teaser site for Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca’s Marvelous Mysterious Key is live confirming the game will be released on Nintendo 3DS. According to the teaser site, Square Enix is developing the Dragon Quest Monsters 2 remake in house. Usually, Square Enix outsources Dragon Quest development. Yuji Horii is the general director, Akira Toriyama is the monster designer, and Kouichi Sugiyama

 

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca’s Marvelous Mysterious Key has a multiplayer mode that supports up to eight players too.

 

Update: Famitsu has more details about the game. Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca’s Marvelous Mysterious Key has over 800 monsters (!) including creatures from Dragon Quest X. There are gigantic "G size" monsters and battles can have at most four on four characters.
