Square Enix Opens Branch In Indonesia

Square Enix expanded into Southeast Asia with Square Enix Smileworks. The publisher of Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider selected Indonesia because the region has been growing economically and people in the region have more buying power.

Square Enix Smileworks will publish Square Enix titles in the region and eventually develop games specifically for South East Asia. Currently, Square Enix Smileworks has 23 employees, three of which came from Square Enix Japan. Smileworks will also create artwork for social games and recently they held a contest to get artists for Nirvana Genesis, a card game in Japan.
