Indie fighting game Skullgirls is getting not four, but five new characters, thanks to contributions from a generous community of fans. Last night, the game crossed the $825,000 mark, ending up with $829,829 in total contributions.

The fifth new character will, like the third character, be chosen based upon fan votes. The new character will be picked from the designs that developer Lab Zero Games have been revealing over the past few weeks. If you care to keep contributing in order to avail the contribution rewards, Lab Zero are accepting PayPal contributions via their website for the next two weeks.

As previously reported, the first of the five new characters, Squigly, is scheduled for release in mid-July, alongside the PC version of Skullgirls. While the new characters will be available for every platform, the PC version will be used to beta test each one of them, and adjustments made based on community feedback.
