Marvelous AQL are expanding Senran Kagura to other forms of media outside of videogames. The franchise already has various manga series running in Japan, and next on the list is an anime series set to debut in early 2013.

Anime News Network report that the Senran Kagura anime will begin airing in Japan on January 6th at 8pm JST. The series will debut on the AT-X channel. In case you missed it, you can watch a promo video for it here.

Game-wise, Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus, a Dynasty Warriors-esque spin-off, is in development for the PlayStation Vita, and is scheduled for release on February 28th. Meanwhile, Senran Kagura: New Wave is a social game for iOS and GREE.

Finally, while not officially announced, series producer, Kenichiro Takaki, has also mentioned Senran Kagura 2 several times, including to Siliconera.
