Capcom has a new feature in Resident Evil 6 where four players can team up for one boss battle when storylines collide. Similar to Journey, another player’s co-op game syncs up to yours. After the battle ends, somehow players will know who helped them out.
"We can’t give details on how we’re doing it, but you will know who you played with," producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi said when demoing Resident Evil 6. "Even if we didn’t display someone just joined your game, you would probably notice the different right away when a person jumps in. The AI has improved since Resident Evil 5, but nothing beats a player and you may notice you don’t need to use as much ammo since you have another player helping you out."
You can replay any mission in Resident Evil 6 after completing it, including the cross play missions. Since Capcom tends to hide super weapons in Resident Evil games the Smith & Wesson Model 500, I asked Hirabayshi what would happen if a player loaded with more powerful gear jumped into a fight.
"Well, tuning the game so there will never be a game where you get a nuclear option and you can takeout everything with one hit," Hirabayshi answered. If a player is really good then they’ll help you out a lot, but we’re trying to keep the gameplay tuned so it you won’t miss the fun of playing the battle because the other person took it away from you."
