The Japanese Feudal Era Dungeon Crawler That’s A Bit Like Pokémon

Nintendo and Tecmo Koei fused Japanese history with monster catching and made Pokémon Conquest. Star Fish, makers of the Elminage series, are trying something similar with Elminage Another Tale. This first person dungeon crawler starts in modern times, but you’re whisked away to the Sengoku era where you have to fight monsters designed with a brush art style.

We’ve seen plenty of other Elminage games before and most of them have plenty of customization options for your party. Since Elminage Another Tale has a story to follow, you can’t add photos of your pet hamster as a party member. For the first time, you can add an enemy monster as an ally. Star Fish added a Shikigami capture system to the PSP game, which lets players fight alongside mythical Japanese creatures. Kind of sounds like Pokémon or Shin Megami Tensei, doesn’t it? Elminage Another Tale comes out on August 30 in Japan.
