Back in 2010, Nitroplus announced that they were working on a remake of the Phantom of Inferno visual novel for the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 remake would include new artwork, a new voice track, and an updated story inspired by the 2010 anime series produced by Bee Train.

Nitroplus released screenshots and even a trailer (view those here) for their remake, and announced a summer 2010 release. Summer 2010 came and went and Phantom of Inferno was never released. It wasn’t released last year either.

The game, however, is still alive and well, Famitsu.com reported this morning. It has a new release date of October 25th, 2012. You can find a few screenshots in Famitsu’s report as well.

Phantom of Inferno begins with a young boy witnessing an assassination. As a witness, he’s then abducted by the organization that carried it out and trained to become one of their killers. He’s given the codename “Zwei” and befriends a girl named Ein, the organization’s top assassin.
