DeNA, the operator of mobile phone gaming platform, Mobage, have announced a partnership with Disney as past of an effort to bring social games to more players around the world.
As part of the agreement, Disney and DeNA will work together both on social games, but also in areas involving Disney movies, TV shows, and smartphone apps.
The first game jointly developed by Disney and DeNA was released this week—Disney Party, currently only available in Japan. A second title, Disney Fantasy Quest, will follow on April 2nd, and a card battle game involving Marvel Comics characters will be released in June.
All three games are also scheduled for release outside Japan. Localized versions of Disney Party, Disney Fantasy Quest and the Marvel title will be launched as smartphone apps sometime after this July in North America, Europe, China and South Korea. Disney and DeNA are considering the development of new titles that will see international release as well.
“Disney’s characters and stories have cross-border and cross-generational appeal,” said Isao Moriyasu, Representative Director and President of DeNA.
“DeNA has enormous reach around the world with its proven cross-device platform for mobile social games. Together, we can delight millions of players with games featuring Disney’s and Marvel’s beloved characters.”
