GamesIndustry.biz report (registration required) that Phil Harrison, formerly of Sony Computer Entertainment, is joining Microsoft as the head of Microsoft Game Studios Europe, the post held by Peter Molyneux, who recently announced his departure from the company.

While at Sony, Harrison was well recognized as one of Sony Computer Entertainment’s public faces, in part due to his visible enthusiasm for the PlayStation brand. GamesIndustry cite “several sources” in their report, and add that Microsoft are expected to make a public announcement later today.

In the few years between his tenure at Sony and his new position at Microsoft, Harrison served on the board of Atari, as part of an effort to revitalize the company’s business. Last year, he also joined the advisory board for cloud gaming service, Gaikai.
