Earlier today, Harvest Moon creator, Yasuhiro Wada, announced during a talk at the Game Developers Conference that he’s working alongside Deadly Premonition director, Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, on a new version of the game for the PlayStation 3.
When Wada made the announcement, there was a little bit of confusion regarding the details surrounding this new Deadly Premonition version, and not all of the facts were entirely clear. We met with Wada shortly after his talk to see if we could get a better idea of the arrangement.
First off, the game is not a sequel to Deadly Premonition as some believe. It is simply an updated version with new story content. Wada and Swery are working on the game together, and it is licensed by Marvelous AQL. If you’re wondering why Wada is involved, it’s because he was executive producer on the original Deadly Premonition when he was still employed at Marvelous Entertainment.
Wada now runs his own company, Toybox Inc. Aside from Deadly Premonition, he’s working on a portable game at Toybox, which he recently revealed to us in a separate interview.
We tried to press Wada to tell us who will be publishing the updated PlayStation 3 Deadly Premonition in North America and Europe, but he wouldn’t say. The game is definitely confirmed for a US/EU release, however, and Wada hopes to show it at this year’s E3 in June.
