Tanooki Mario Gets More Huggable In April

This article is over 12 years old and may contain outdated information

One day, Lakitu was carrying a question block full of Tanooki leaves. A bullet bill whizzed by and Lakitu dropped them just by chance into factories making stuffed Marios. That’s why Nintendo is making Tanooki Mario plush toys, we think. It’s either that or a boring boardroom presentation where executives analyzed bar graphs of Tanooki Mario’s growing popularity.

In either case, plush Tanooki Marios will go on sale in Japan this April. A small doll (11W x 22H x 11D cm) costs 1,400 yen ($18) and a super mushroom infused medium size Tanooki Mario (15W x 30H x 15D cm) costs 2,600 yen ($34). I think I’m going to hold out and wait for Statue Leaf Mario plushes instead.
