Scans from Shueisha’s V-Jump magazine bring a few scant details of Digimon World Re:Digitize. As you may recall, the protagonist of Re:Digitize is a 14-year-old boy who ends up in the Digital World.
After reading a mysterious e-mail, he ends up in the digital world. Along with him, his best friend, Nikolai, ends up in the Digital World, too. While not an unusual premise for the Digimon series, This was also the basic premise for the original Digimon World, which makes sense, since Namco intend for this to be an homage to that game.
Once in the Digital World, the protagonist meets Agumon. Nikolai ends up with Gaomon. Nikolai is described as passionate and harbouring a strong sense of justice, and Gaomon is stoic and loyal.
The protagonist also meets a mysterious girl named Akiho Rindou, who gets along well with Digimon and follows the protagonist around. By the time you meet her, she has a Garudamon, who is kind and seems to look after her.
Namco Bandai still haven’t specified a release date for Digimon World Re:Digitize, save that it will be released sometime in 2012. The game is being developed by Tri-Crescendo, known for the development of Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon.
In addition to Digimon World, the V-Jump issue also mentions a Digimon mobile phone game, slated for release this year.
