Ni No Kuni Has A New Name For North America

Level-5 president Akihiro Hino said Ni no Kuni would be released outside of Japan in early 2012 during a press conference at Tokyo Game Show. The news was geared for Asian regions (other than Japan) since the announcement was made during a Sony Computer Entertainment Asia event, but Level-5 appears to have plans for a North American release too.

And it seems they decided on an official English name. Level-5 filed a trademark for Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch in the USA, which sounds awfully close to the Japanese name for the PS3 game. It’s so close, we’re going to start referring to the PlayStation 3 title by that name. While Level-5 filed a trademark tied to the PS3 version, there isn’t a corresponding trademark for The Jet Black Wizard, which was released as a Nintendo DS game last year.
