While you can only connect four controllers to an Xbox 360, Guardian Heroes can have twelve characters in a multiplayer brawl when you play online. That’s twice the number of fighters in the Sega Saturn release.

Under the hood, Treasure rebalanced Guardian Heroes. Magic points in the Xbox 360 version are locked to 100 MP, for example. Just like the rearranged graphics, players can toggle balance settings and select the original Guardian Heroes. Sega also added new modes such as training mode and a gallery mode where you can view character art plus endings. Players can also unlock two kinds of avatar awards like a digital t-shirt.

Guardian Heroes is slated for release as an Xbox Live Arcade download this fall.
