We know quite a bit about Street Fighter X Tekken, the Capcom developed crossover game with Nina and Cammy. It’s due for release next year and playable builds were shown at conventions like E3 and more recently EVO.
What we don’t know much about is Tekken X Street Fighter, which is being developed by Namco Bandai. Since Yoshinori Ono, producer of Street Fighter X Tekken, added elements from Tekken into his game, I asked Tekken series producer Katsuhiro Harada how he’s going to develop Tekken X Street Fighter.
"Hmm… trying to recreate Street Fighter into our engine wouldn’t please the fans of Street Fighter or Tekken. Instead, I’ll make this game more Tekken-like," Harada answered in a Siliconera interview. "I’ll probably give Ryu more up close techniques when he’s put into our game. The Tekken characters have a whole lot of techniques compared to Street Fighter so we’ll add more cool moves and variations. It’s still the Ryu everyone knows, but with that added to him."
Development on Tekken X Street Fighter isn’t in full swing. Harada-san said the team has not started prototyping yet and they have to do that first before defining how the game will play.
Don’t worry Ryu will still be able to throw fireballs. "Oh, and Ryu will still have his hadokens," Harada assured.
