When UnchainBlades ReXX comes up, the focus is usually on the cast of characters or smorgasbord of artists. We’ve seen all of them now, so Furyu is starting to focus on gameplay and UnchainBlades ReXX is a dungeon crawler where you have monster followers.
After a battle, monsters may join your group and become a follower. Each character can have up to four monsters and with four party members you have 20 active fighters in one party. Monsters can link up with Fang, Lapis, Silvy, and Tiana for synchro attacks.
If you want to increase the chance for a synchro attack listen carefully to your monster. Somewhat reminiscent of the Shin Megami Tensei and Luminous Arc games, monsters talk to you after a fight and players can respond by picking an emoticon. Say the right thing to boost your monster’s mood and more importantly raise the probability of a team attack.
UnchainBlades ReXX comes out on July 14 for Nintendo 3DS and PSP.
