Falcom continues to grow the Legend of Heroes series with PSP releases. A new line linked to the Trails in the Sky trilogy began in Japan with Trails of Zero last year. A PSP sequel, Trails of Blue, is scheduled to come out on September 29.
Not counting PSP ports like The Oath in Felghana, Ys vs. Trails in the Sky would be the last game with Adol from Falcom, but Ys Seven was the game in the series. Falcom release it in 2009 and Xseed localized the title last year. Curious about what’s next for the Ys series, I asked Toshihiro Kondo, President of Nihon Falcom, about future plans for Ys.
"We’ve already decided on the hardware for the next Ys game, and development has already begun," Kondo answered. "I can’t give out any details just yet, however, but I do think people will be surprised when they learn what it is."
In addition to developing for PSP and PC, Falcom confirmed they are working with Sony’s Next Generation Portable (codename NGP) too. Falcom is also tinkering with Android. Sorcerian, one of their classic PC games, is being updated for smartphones.
