Final Fantasy XI And XIV Service Resumes On March 25

After the Tohoku earthquake, Square Enix temporarily shut down their online servers for Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XI, and their PlayOnline service. The gate to Eorzea closed on March 13, but will reopen on March 25 at 4:00PM PDT.

To make up for the downtime, Final Fantasy XI players will not be charged any monthly fees during the April billing cycle.

 

Did you know 11.6% of the power utilized by Square Enix’s Tokyo office is for these servers? To resume operation Square Enix turned off air conditioning and reduced lighting in their offices, which offset their total power so the servers could come back online.
