In another recent episode of the company’s “Ask Capcom” series of video Q&As, Vice-president of Strategic Planning & Business Development, Christian Svensson, fielded a question on whether one could expect to see any Monster Hunter-related announcements from Capcom USA in the near future.
While Svensson didn’t give a direct reply to the question or allude to any Monster Hunter game in particular, he did say the future for Monster Hunter fans in the west is bright. His full quote is as follows:
“All I can say is, the future for Monster Hunter fans in the west will be bright, but just as there was a sizeable gap between Freedom Unite and [Portable] 2nd, I think there’s going to be a little bit of a gap [following Monster Hunter Tri]. And exactly what form it takes, I can’t speak to — I have to unfortunately stay mum. But fear not, you guys have more goodness coming in the future.”
This is in no way a confirmation of if Monster Hunter Portable 3rd is or isn’t headed overseas, or what form it will take. Keep in mind that Portable 3rd will also be made available on Sony’s NGP in some form, although details on this front are unclear.
Capcom have also recently alluded to the possibility of expanding the Monster Hunter franchise to the Nintendo 3DS. The last Monster Hunter game to be released outside Japan was Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii.
