Jun Takeuchi, the new head of the consumer games R&D division at Capcom, spoke with Famitsu about his company’s plans for this year. Snippets of the interview are circulating online and Takeuchi teased two large scale, original titles will be revealed this year. The unannounced games will be revealed this summer and Takeuchi says they will surprise and wow people.
Perhaps, one of these games is Dragon’s Dogma? We unearthed a trademark for Dragon’s Dogma the same time we discovered Asura’s Wrath. The latter was announced at Tokyo Game Show.
Takeuchi also talked about the Nintendo 3DS and mentioned Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition utilizes about 80-90% of the hardware’s abilities. He also said Capcom’s overseas emphasis has been "misconstrued." Capcom is global company, Takeuchi explains, with divisions in North America, Europe, and Japan. For the Japanese audience they made "Airu" (I believe Takuechi is referring to Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Felyne Village) and Last Ranker. For the West, Capcom focuses on open world games seen from the eyes of a Japanese developer.
Lost Planet 2 (pictured) was Takeuchi’s most recent title.
