Mega Man, Resident Evil, And Silpheed Go Glasses-Free 3D On Android Phones

Softbank unveiled Galapagos, a series of glasses-free 3D mobile phones at their 2010 winter press conference. There are two models 003SH and 005SH, which has a sliding keyboard plus a higher resolution camera. Both use a 1GhZ Snapdragon processor with Android 2.2 as their operating system and have a screen that sounds similar to the Nintendo 3DS.

Along with movies, a bookstore, and a 3D camera, Softbank also announced a lineup of 3D games from Capcom, Namco Bandai, Game Arts, Konami, and Cho Aniki publisher GungHo.

 

Mega Man, the original NES classic, is one of the 3D games. The game uses a simulated D-pad on the touch screen for controls. Capcom also has Resident Evil Degeneration and Ghost ‘n Goblins: Gold Knights planned for Galapagos. Namco Bandai is working on Taiko no Tatsujin. Konami has Mobile Power Pros Baseball 3D. Game Arts is developing Silpheed Alternative. GungHo has Spirit World Telephone and Raganrok Online Mobile Story planned for Galapagos.

Softbank’s Galapagos series is going to beat Nintendo to the punch with glasses-free 3D. The Galapagos 003SH model is scheduled to ship this December. The Galapagos 005SH is slated for a February 2011 release.\
