Character designer Shigenori Soejima hopped on to the Catherine blog to post pictures of food and more importantly talk about Vincent.

Catherine is about everyday instinctual desires, Soejima wrote, such as craving to sleep, eat, and "O (censored) " craving (laughs). Because of nightmares, Vincent, the protagonist, is unable to satiate his desire to sleep.

Having a main character that isn’t saving the world, rather in agony searching for personal peace is new, Soejima joked. Soejima thinks people will be able to sympathize with Vincent because his concerns are similar to everyday people in the world. Unlike Vincent, Soejima can sleep soundly.

Soejima compared Catherine not to a Hollywood movie, but to an independent film. The scale is smaller, but Catherine has depth. Soejima wants to create a game that is interesting, a habit-forming game that makes you want to keep playing it.

About the food, Soejima designed that too. Catherine has pizza, cakes, sushi, and alcoholic drinks. We’ve seen a closer look at the pizza and the gooey cheese which shows the items as 3D objects.
