Square Enix Japan Hiring Designer For A New 3D Action RPG

Square Enix has a post for a battle planner open in their Shinjuku office. The role of a planner in Japan is somewhat like a game designer with specific purpose. Games usually have a number of planners each with a different role, maybe map making or cutscene management for example. In this case, we’re talking about a monster maker. That’s the position Square Enix is looking to fill.

The job listing is interesting because it hints about the project. Square Enix says this hire will make enemy characters and patterns for a 3D action RPG. Qualified applicants should have experience making action RPGs and have developed a PS3 or otherwise an Xbox 360 title. Since Square Enix cites HD console development as a requirement this project is probably for one of those consoles.

Nier was the last action RPG developed by Square Enix Japan and Cavia.
