If you own a TV that supports it, you’ll be able to play Ridge Racer 7 in 3D on the PS3 real soon. However, Namco also have a Ridge Racer 3D in development for the Nintendo 3DS.

Japanese site 4Gamer managed to get their hands on Ridge Racer 3D at Nintendo’s 3DS conference earlier in the week and reported back with impressions of the game, along with some new screenshots.

According to 4Gamer, the big difference the 3D effect makes is that it’s easier to judge distance while playing the game, such the distance from guardrails for instance. They also liked being able to drift in 3D. It’s something they say is hard to express in words.

Fun note: all the avatars in the screenshots have names from Namco’s fighting games.
