“The people of Sharance and their horned Univir neighbors are embroiled in a bitter conflict,” reads Natsume’s press release about Rune Factory 3. “An age-old hatred between humans and monsters divides them. Micah is an adventurer with an unusual secret: he’s half monster! He’ll have to unite the humans and the Univir in time to stop the growing evil force that threatens to destroy them both!”
Micah…so that’s the protagonist’s localized name. In addition to putting you in control of a Werewooly, Rune Factory 3 features an updated character interaction system. Not only do villagers react differently depending on what form Mais…er, Micah, takes…they can also assist you during battle in caves. Additionally, the game also features items called Active Seeds that you can plant in caves to act like traps.
There’s also a new multiplayer mode, in which up to four players can go clear out multiplayer-specific dungeons together for rare items and rewards. Natsume still haven’t announced a release date for Rune Factory 3, but the game
will be present at E3 next week.
