When Tomonobu Itagaki split from Tecmo he brought a number of ex-Team Ninja staff from his former company with him. The parties split on sour terms, but Tecmo Koei extended an olive branch and Valhalla Game Studios posted it.

Buried in a list of congratulatory messages to Valhalla Game Studios is a note from Kakihara Yasuharu, the new chairman of Koei Tecmo holdings. “Congratulations on establishing a new company,” Yasuharu wrote. “I wish your company’s future prospects will be prosperous.”
Before leaving Tecmo, Itagaki directed the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden games. Then he sued the company and previous president Yoshimi Yasuda for unpaid bonus wages.
