Ys: The Oath in Felghana may be a classic from 2005, but a lot more people are going to be exposed to it very soon. Falcom’s releasing the PSP version of the PC game on April 22, 2010. Looks like there’ll be something good to import this week!
Ys: The Oath in Felghana takes place after Ys I and II and once again stars Adol Christin. He and his friend Dogi are traveling to Redmont, a city on Dogi’s home island of Felghana. The two end up getting involved in an endeavor to help the people there, who are currently plagued by monsters and tyranical rulers. It was originally created as a PC remake of Ys III and offered an overhead view and 3D game engine. Unlike Ys III: Wanderers from Ys, it has never been released outside of Japan.
The PSP version does offer quite a few new additions to those willing to invest in it. There’s lots of different background music to choose from, full event voice acting and an illustration album to complete as you play. It also has a widescreen presentation this time around.
There are two editions of Ys: The Oath in Felghana being released. A standard version which will just come with the UMD of the game, and the limited edition will include an additional drama CD. If you’re in Japan, you may want to consider placing an order with Amazon.co.jp – you can get a special Ys: Wanderers from Ys X68000 Original Soundtrack with your order of the standard or special edition.
