And this is Chris dressed like a warrior. Since Capcom is using content from the PC version Sheva’s business woman outfit should be in Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition too.

In Japan, you can buy Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition in stores, but only the PlayStation 3 version. The 4,990 yen ($56) Blu-ray disc includes:

  • Resident Evil 5 (the original version)
  • Versus mode DLC
  • All of the extra episodes — Lost in Nightmares and the unnamed second episode
  • Additional costumes
  • Extra figures
  • The Mercenaries Reunion (a revised mercenaries mode with extra characters)

Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition will also be sold as DLC. Currently, this is the only way to get the content if you own the Xbox 360 version. Instead of selling one massive download, Capcom is breaking Alternative Edition into four packs.

  • Lost in Nightmares – the extra episode in Spencer’s mansion, extra figures, and two Mercenaries Reunion characters for 500 yen / 400 Microsoft Points.
  • Costume Pack 1 – two costumes, two Mercenaries Reunion characters, and extra figures for 200 yen / 160 Microsoft Points. The mercenaries reunion characters may be Chris and Sheva in other outfits since Folklore Sheva is listed as a “character” on the official site.
  • An unannounced episode, extra figures, and two Mercenaries Reunion characters for 500 yen / 400 Microsoft points.
  • Costume Pack 2 – two more costumes, two Mercenaries Reunion characters, and extra figures for 200 yen / 160 Microsoft Points.

The total price for Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is 1,400 yen ($15) or 1120 Microsoft Points. Interestingly, none of the packs mention motion control which was previously announced as an added feature. Perhaps, that will be released as a patch when the PlayStation 3 motion controller comes out in spring. Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition is slated for February 18, 2010 in Japan.
