Earlier this year Hills and Rivers Remain brought a blend of tower defense and Dragon Force to mobile phones. Described by Square Enix as a “river strategy” game, Hills and Rivers Remain has players direct units on a board game-like map.
Square Enix brought an iPhone port to Tokyo Game Show, but it looks like a DSiWare version is coming out first. Hills and Rivers Remain is scheduled to arrive on the DSi Shop in Japan on October 28. The game is priced as a premium title for 800 DSiWare points.
Plans for a North American version have not been announced. However, Square Enix is keen on releasing digitally distributed cell phone games overseas. Crystal Defenders and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years appeared overseas after we discovered trademarks for those titles. Oh, look what we have here…
