Marvelous released a chunk of information about Sakura Note, an upcoming DS game championed by a designer dream team.

In the game you play as a boy searching for the secret to the town’s ghostly inhabitants. Battles have been simplified to two buttons and when you win fights against round pigs you can collect tears. Tears are used to progress through the game and unlock other episodes. While the boy is the main character some episodes are shown from the point of view of dogs and cats.

Tears can also be collected by interacting with people via the my fate system. Using two buttons you choose what your character says during conversations, which can lead to a flood of tears.

This trailer, which shows a hodgepodge of real life and in game footage, highlights the “everyday fantasy” theme. Sakura Note is scheduled to blur reality and fantasy in Japan on November 5. A North American release has not been announced, but Marvelous is pretty aggressive about releasing their titles overseas. I wonder who will handle this… Xseed? Atlus? Rising Star, OK they’re a given.
