Sega still develops new racing games without Sonic in the driver’s seat. We just haven’t seen them on consoles. Hummer and Initial D Arcade Stage 5 came out in Japanese arcades this year. Looks like their next arcade racer is going back to basics.
Sega filed a trademark for Sega Racing Classic with a logo in Europe. Unlike other trademarks this one is specifically for use with arcade machines and coin operated electronic arcade games. Perhaps, Sega Racing Classic will be the first driving game built on Ringedge hardware. So far only two games, Border Break and Shining Force Cross, make use of the new board.
