The same month we get Retro Game Challenge Japan gets the sequel. Game Center CX 2 has a selection of new games. Not all of them are based on the Famicom. Kugure! Girijan Max is a self described “Game Training Tool” and a tribute to hand held LCD games.
In Kugure! Girijan Max players jump over holes and watch out for falling spiked balls.
Wiz-Man is a lot like Pac-Man. You play a ghost and grab crystals to climb a tower. Touch one of the magical wands and Wizun can fight back.
Demon Returns feels like a homage to Super Mario Brothers and other Famicom side scrolling games. In the game you can stomp on enemies and collect power ups to give the demon other powers.
Muteki Kobushi Kung Fu (Invincible Fist Kung Fu) is like the NES classic Kung Fu. You punch and kick your way to bosses and can challenge a second player to fights. It’s unclear if Game Center CX 2 will have wireless play so you can actually fight someone else.
Kachou-ha Meitantei Zenpan (The Famous Detective Kachou Volume 1) puts Shinya Arino into a disc based adventure game.
Toriotosu is for the fictional Game Computer Mini and is based off the Game Boy version of Tetris.
That detective game looks Japanese language intensive which means Game Center CX 2 won’t be as friendly to import as Game Center CX. Let’s hope XSEED picks this up, but that won’t happen unless Retro Game Challenge sells well here.
