For those not satiated with Lumines, Lumines II, Lumines Live, Lumines Mobile, and Lumines for PCs (catches breath) Lumines Supernova is coming to the PlayStation 3 as a PSN download. I gave it out at Tokyo Game Show, but the demo didn’t have the newly created Dig Down Mode where you remove piles of blocks or the sequencer to play with. We’ll have to wait until November to get a better look at these features and see if they make Lumines Supernova stand out from all the other Lumines games on the market. Right now the release timing is only for Asia, but its probable Lumines Supernova will be released around the same time, if not on simultaneously.

The other benefit Lumines Supernova has over Lumines Live is online play is free over the PlayStation Network, but Q Entertainment isn’t going out of their way to add PS3 specific features like collectable trophies. I think I’ll stick to the portable versions I already own unless Lumines Supernova pulls some surprises with its skin list and adds new Mondo Grosso / Shinichi Osawa songs.
