Lost Odyssey is about a group of immortals and it takes place far in the future where Kaim, the male protagonist, lost his memory. His past is detailed through a series of dream sequences called the 1,000 year dream. Players encounter these prose passages while playing Lost Odyssey and one of them can be downloaded over the Xbox Live Marketplace.
In Japan, 31 of these short stories were pasted together to make a 391 page novel called Eien wo Tabi Suru Mono ~ Lost Odyssey ~ Sen Nen no Yume (roughly Immortal Traveler ~ Lost Odyssey ~ Dream of a Thousand Years). It looks like the people who picked up the hardcover novel are thoroughly enjoying it in Japan. It’s got a 5 out of 5 star rating over at Amazon Japan, which isn’t bad at all! Perhaps, fan bias swayed the reviews since this is likely something fans of the game would be attracted to and also likely to remain in Japan. In North America we have to experience the 1,000 year dream the way Mistwalker intended it, actually playing through the game.
