Remember Valkyrie of the Battlefield, Sega's new IP for the PS3 that sported watercolor/canvas-esque graphics? Up until its announcement, nothing new had been mentioned of the game; now, though, new information has been revealed regarding the game's battle system and, for those who didn't believe the previous shot to be a representation of in-game graphics, the game's graphics. Famitsu has released some new in-game shots of Valkyrie of the Battlefield as well as its battle system which can be seen and read past the break
In typical SRPG fashion, the movement of your characters in Valkyrie of the Battlefield will be determined by AP (very similar to other RPGs, like Breath of Fire V, that used AP to both limit character movement on the field as well as having AP requirements to unleash different leveled attacks). What makes Valkyrie of the Battlefield different is BLITZ (Battle of Live Tactical Zones) battle system where you give your characters command then proceed into action mode and move these units on your own. As evidenced in one of the shots below, you can see how everything in action mode is done in a third-person perspective and maintaining the SRPG feel. Sounds pretty interesting to say the least.
Valkyrie of the Battlefield is set for release in Japan sometime in Spring 2008.
