Square-Enix is giving Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings a pretty fast turnaround. It was released in April in Japan and we’re going to be playing it on November 20 with extra content. Details about the addition(s?) will be released at a later date. The difficulty in Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is going to be tweaked too, it will be harder than the Japanese release. Times have changed from the days when Final Fantasy titles were dumbed down. However, the E3 build didn’t reflect the new level of difficulty.
In the short demo you guide Vaan, Penelo and a screen full of monsters to fight Belial. You might remember that Belial is the first Esper you can summon in Final Fantasy XII and it is susceptible to ice/water attacks. If you intelligently pick your party you can crush it with the right spells. Or you can rush into battle with a horde or monsters and the Ultima summon by your side. Other Espers in the build included Queztlcotl, who is now a cute little chicken and a White Hare. After you win there was a short, but gorgeous looking movie of Bahamut coming to life.
While we’re waiting for more details on Square-Enix USA’s release check out our import playtest of Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings and some of the movies.
