We called it two months ago and today Majesco made an official announcement about Blast Works: Build, Fuse & Destroy, a side scrolling shmup where you scoop up fallen ships as mobile armor. It’s sort of like Katamari Damacy meets Gradius with lego block ships. While it’s new for the Wii, it's far from “brand new”. Blast Works is actually Tumiki Fighters, a free game you can download for the PC. New features for the Nintendo Wii version is you can create your own levels and a hangar defending mode where you the Wii remote becomes an anti-aircraft turret.
One thing odd about Majesco’s announcement is they don’t acknowledge the source of the game at all. There is no mention of Tumiki Fighters in the press release or Kenta Cho, the original creator. Is Majesco trying to hide the original game because you can download and play it now? Also Majesco has yet to set a price for the game and after hearing about Wii Ware earlier, the fifteen level Wii version of Tumiki Fighters would probably have a better home there than retail stores this fall.
